James Morris "Jim" Armit Sr.

James "Jim" Morris Armit, Sr., born on July 21, 1939, in New Orleans, LA and a life-long resident of Kenner, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025.
He was dearly loved by his children, Donna A. Madere, James M. Armit Jr. (Mary), and Joseph M. Armit (Birdie), grandchildren CJ Phillips, Rebecca Crossland (Ben), Cherie P. Sauve (Nick), Jamie Dubois, Kristen A. Davis (Mike), Lauren A. Talamo (Ben), Angela A. Turnage (Nathan), Joseph M. Armit, Jr. (Zoe), Corrie Nix (Claire), and Colbie Nix (Kelsie), several great-grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. He will be missed dearly by his sister Janice Maher, and brothers Mike (Delores) and Johnny (Cindy) Armit. He was also looking forward to the arrival of his first great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Agnes "Ceily" Cecelia Rabito Armit, his parents James and Helen Armit, brother-in-law John Maher, son-in-law William "Bill" Madere, and grandson Jeffery Crossland (Dena).
Jim was the owner and operator of the long-time Kenner business he started with his son Jimmy, Olde Tyme Body Shop. He previously was the owner of Amana Bread and Oroweat. Jim was a skilled craftsman, building cherished wooden heirlooms for his loved ones. He enjoyed painting for various businesses, including their signs and commercial vehicles. Positive things were said by all who knew him, as he had a kind soul.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner, LA 70062. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. The family requests any memorial contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
