James P. Arruda, 77, of Fall River, passed away, July 23, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family.

    He was the loving husband of Geraldine (Copsetta) Arruda, to whom he was married for 57 years.

    Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Manuel V. Arruda and Belmira (Souza) Arruda.

    James was a Class of 1965 graduate of Diman. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country for 4 years. James was then employed as an automotive assembler, at General Motors in Framingham, until it closed. He then went on to work for the VA in Brockton for 22 years, until his retirement. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family.

    Along with his wife, survivors include his children Lorrie Ann Arruda and James Frances Arruda; his siblings Dorothy Laureanno, Eleanor Beben, and Kathleen Arruda; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

    His funeral will be held Monday, July 29, 2024, at 9 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home - South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main Street, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Trinity Church, Fall River. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday night from 5 - 7 PM.
