James Austin, Sr Obituary

James Michael Austin, Sr.,75, or Mike as he was known, a beloved husband, father, grandfatherand friend, peacefully passed away at his home in Taylors, South Carolina, on December 3,2024, surrounded by his family. Born on February 16, 1949, in Piedmont, South Carolina to Carland Daisy Austin, he was a man of deep devotion and character.
Mike was a proud veteran who honorably served in the United States Navy during the VietnamWar. His service to his country was a testament to his strong values and unwaveringcommitment to those he cared for. After returning from military service, he built a life filled withlove, family, and friends.He celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Jan. Together, they createda warm and loving home for their family.Mike had a passion for life, which he expressed through various hobbies and interests. Heenjoyed fishing, golfing and racing all of which allowed him to spend time with family andfriends.


Mike is survived by his wife, Jan, and their children, James “Jimmy” Austin, Jr. (Shannon),Christy Mooney (Ken Allen), and Carla Styles as well as his grandchildren Morgan Gentry(Bradley), Samantha Lyles (Cody), Bradley Styles (Jessica), Haleigh Styles (Jed Giddley), andhis great-grandchildren Clayton Gentry, Carter Styles, Carson Styles, and Blakely Gentry. Healso leaves behind his brother, Randy “Biscuit” Carl Austin.


He is predeceased by his parents, Carl and Daisy Austin, his sister-in-law, Linda Austin, andbrother-in-law Bill Prince.


A visitation honoring Mike will be held on December 10, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM atRobinson Funeral Home on Powdersville Road, followed by a funeral service celebrating his life,starting at 12:00 PM.
