James Edmund Baertsch, 80, passed away November 19, 2025 at the St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure, N.D. After surviving two cancer surgeries, he was recently diagnosed with oral cancer.

Jim was born March 9, 1945 to Edmund L. and Agnes (Jensen) Baertsch in Valley City, N.D. He was raised in Marion and graduated from Marion High School in 1963. He also attended UND and VCSU. Jim worked various jobs in the Marion area and did construction with his father and brother Tom known as Baertsch Construction.

He enjoyed gardening and making his own tomato juice and
hot pepper jelly. He was a loyal Vikings, Twins and Timberwolves fan and a dedicated MSNBC watcher.

Jim is survived by his sister Becky Piehl (Walter), brothers Thomas Baertsch (Becky) and Kent Baertsch (Jackie), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edmund L. and Agnes Baertsch, grandparents Edmund and Grace Baertsch and Jens and Mary Jensen.

A family and friend's memorial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Marion, N.D. at a later date. An online guestbook can be signed here.
