Vivian Mielke

Vivian LaRayne Mielke was born January 9, 1946 in Moorhead, MN to Henry and Florence (Disse) Mielke. She grew up in Glyndon, MN and graduated from Glyndon High School. After high school, Vivian's mom found her a job doing sewing and patch work in a small town in Minnesota. She eventually moved to Fargo, ND where she met her future husband and soulmate Ron Dunn in 1983.

In 1986, they moved to Horace, ND and built a house there. They continued to live there until her illness took her to the Good Samaritan Society in Oakes, ND where she passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 6, 2025 at the age of 79.

Vivian's work and talents took her to many different companies in Fargo. She headed up a bar on NP Ave and a local bakery in downtown Fargo. She worked for Silverline, sewing boat seat covers and even installed a few lights on boats. At Creative Imprints, also known as CI Apparel, she sewed North Dakota State Bison Collegiate Leather office chairs. The Bison applique was awesome on those chairs! She worked at Elite Trim sewing car interior upholstery and retired from American Linen Sewing Department.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Ron; and siblings, Beverly Bell, Rockford, IL, Raymond Mielke, WI, Kathy Byers, Moorhead, MN and many nieces and nephews.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Mielke and Florence Johnson; stepfather, Gordon Johnson; and sister Lacinda Mielke.

A memory of life gathering will be held at the Horace Community Center (220 Thue Court Horace, ND) from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025. An online guestbook signing here.
