James Bastien Obituary
James Arthur Bastien, 76, of Salem, New Hampshire, passed away on August 2, 2025, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts.
Born in Amesbury, Massachusetts, on January 9, 1949, he was the son of the late Arthur Bastien and Doris (Porter) Bastien. James grew up in Amesbury and was formerly a longtime resident of Kingston, New Hampshire, before making his home in Salem, NH for the past 30 years.
He was a graduate of Haverhill High School and Trade School (Electrical) - Class of 1967. He later trained to be a draftsman. James was the proud owner and operator of The Design Development Group in Salem, NH for over three decades.
Dedicated to serving others, James volunteered as both an EMT and firefighter in Amesbury, MA, and later in Kingston, NH. His commitment to community service was a defining aspect of his life.
James was predeceased by his son, Peter A. Bastien, in 1975, as well as his siblings Jean Stefan, and Robert Bastien.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Gilson of Kingston, NH, and his son, Jason M. Bastien, also of Kingston. Grandfather to Luna and Layne Gilson, James is also survived by his brother, Ronald Bastien of Exeter, NH, and several nieces and nephews.
