Jim was a 1967 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. He was a dedicated employee for HRI, retiring in 2013, after 41 years of service as a Superintendent.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, traveling with his wife and family, woodworking and tinkering around in his yard with his tractor. He looked forward to all the holidays with family gatherings, especially all the picnics. He loved his family and treasured his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his charm, wit, and sense of humor.
Jim is survived by his wife, five children: DeAnna L. Heggenstaller and her fiancé, Stephen, of Woolrich, Dawn R. Carson and her husband, Wes, of Jersey Shore, Joseph J. He is also survived by three siblings: Foster Sayers and his wife, Sydney, of Howard, Eileen Hall and her husband, Francis, of Julian, and Corinne Grubb and her husband, Bob, of Lamar; a sister in-law, Barb DeHass Hanley of Eagleville, a brother in-law, William Dietz and his wife, Nell, of Dunkirk, Maryland; two sister in-law, Barb Hanley and her husband, Alvin of Blanchard, and Hilda Dietz of Quimby, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Waite, a brother, Michael Bathurst, and three brothers in-law, Jerry Dietz, Bobby Dietz, and Bob DeHass.
There will be a public visitation on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 5-7pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Milesburg. Funeral service will follow at 7pm, at the funeral home, with Pastor Craig Rose officiating.
