James D. "Jim" Benner, 85, of Thompsontown (Maze), passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at his residence.

Born on July 16, 1939 in Liverpool Twp., Perry County, he is a son of the late Delvin and Helen (Mitten) Benner.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy A. (Adams) Benner; one son, Rick Benner and his wife Gloria of Thompsontown; twin daughters, Sarah Allison and Helen Wood, both of Camp Hill; seven grandchildren, Nichol Strauser and her companion Curt Delbaugh, Lisa Miller and her husband Cody, Tobie Pellman and her husband Ryan, John Allison, James Haines, Jamie Smith and her husband TJ, and Brooke Clark; several great grandchildren; three siblings, John Benner and his wife Kay of Liverpool, Robert Benner of Licking Creek, and Donna Lauver and her husband Gary of Freeburg; one brother in law, Maynard Bailey of Middleburg; several generations of nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Susie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara E. (Lindsey) Benner on March 28, 2019; one grandson, Joseph Strauser; one great grandson, Ethan Strauser; and six siblings, William "Bill" Benner, Shirley Bollinger, Nancy Bolton, Charlene Bailey, Sarah Mae Leach, and Dennis Benner in infancy.

Mr. Benner was employed and retired as a Carpenter with Local 240 Carpenters Union.

His memberships included Crossroads Church of God of Prophecy in Maze and in earlier life, served as a member and fire fighter with Delaware Twp. Fire Company No. 6 in East Salem.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching NASCAR; however, his greatest joy came from time spent with his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 30, 2025 at the Crossroads Church of God of Prophecy, 9988 Route 235, Thompsontown with Pastor Dan Rockwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Maze Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Benner's memory to his church, Crossroads Church of God of Prophecy, 9988 Route 235, Thompsontown, PA 17094.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
