This is the story of Jim Benson, a simple man who was born August 12, 1949, and died April 8, 2024. Jim married the former Sherry Sorenson (after living in sin with her for seven years) on December 4, 1982. Together they raised ten children, Jim's major accomplishment in his life. Jim and his wife were foster parents for twenty years for Marinette County. Jim loved a good fishing story, a cold Pabst, teasing people, being the fun dad, and living each day on his boat. His number one love was his job-commercial fishing. Jim was happiest on his boat and his children spent time fishing with him as they grew-some loving it and some not so much. Jim wanted no services, no celebrations, nothing when he died. Jim is survived by his wife, Sherry, his children, Scott (Michelle), Stacey (Trine Martinez) Dura, Sandy Jo (John Leaveck), Jennifer (Alfredo) Moyano, Benjamin (Mindy), Cassandra (Bryan) LaForest, Nicholas (Amanda), Reilly, Cierra, and of course Alexander-Jim's sidekick. He is further survived by 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is best remembered by his children with this saying "I would choose my dad to be my dad in every lifetime again and again." Jim Benson, a simple man who left a huge impact during his lifetime.
