James "Bear" Carey Blalock, age 56, of Chatsworth, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Hamilton Medical Center after years of declining health. Born on February 16, 1969, in Riverside, California, he was the son of James Norris Blalock and Lindia Gaile Ross.

Bear worked as a supervisor in the metal fabrication department at Display Craft, where he took great pride in his craft until his illness no longer allowed him to work. He married the love of his life, Lee, in 1989, and together they built a life filled with devotion, humor, and deep loyalty.

A man with a creative soul, Bear loved art in all its forms, so much so that he carried it with him permanently through his tattoos, each one a piece of his story. He enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, and cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. NFL football Sundays were sacred in his home. Above all, he was a loving husband and father whose presence will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Lee Blalock of Chatsworth; his son, James R. Blalock of Chatsworth; his sister, Laura Rausch of Pinellas Park, FL; and his step sister, Frieda Kinney of Lejunior, KY. Bear also leaves behind two special "brothers of the heart," Vince (Jennifer) Carmical of Bronston, KY, and Mario (Angie) Cisneros of Dalton, GA, men he loved like true brothers.

In addition to his mother, Gaile Fee, he was preceded in death by his step-father who, in his eyes, were his real parents, Charles Fee, as well as his sister, Annette Taylor.

Honoring his wishes, Bear will be cremated, and no services will be conducted.
