James Patrick "Jim" Boone

James Patrick Boone, age 71 of Roan Mountain, TN, passed away December 13, 2025, at the Waters of Roan Highlands. He was born on November 10, 1954, and worked as a millwright for much of his life. Jim, or "Thang" as many of his lifelong friends knew him, enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He loved motorcycles, John Wayne movies, and a good survival prep book. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Boone and Irabelle Pritchard Boone.
Loved ones left behind include two daughters: Brittany Boone (Chase), Brooke Crawford (Josh), two sons: Cody Benfield and Jay Allen Johnson, four grandchildren: Tipton James Boone Seay, Derrick James Johnson, Jackson Johnson, and Irabelle Boone Mitchell, five brothers: Mike Boone (Missy), Steve Boone (LaDonna), Larry Boone, Herman Boone, and Jeff Boone (Karen) and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Miller Cemetery on Heaton Creek Road in Roan Mountain, with Pastor Geren Street officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers include: Jack Heaton, Sam Garrison, Gerald Holtsclaw, Rob Cook, Terry Denton, and Joyce Clawson. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Roan Mountain at 2:00 PM on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
