Dorothy A. Heaton, age 91, of Elizabethton, Tennessee passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at her residence. Dorothy was born in Banner Elk, North Carolina to the late Walter Mitchell and Daisy Caldwell Mitchell. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Tip L. Heaton; her two sons, Ronnie Heaton and Jerry Heaton; brother, Walt Mitchell, Jr.
Those left to cherish the memory of Dorothy include her son, Robert Heaton (Sherri), of Roan Mountain, grandchildren: Alex Heaton, Jamie Heaton (Dina) and Wendy Winters (Bill); great grandchildren: Dustin Winters, Jacob Winters, Thomas Heaton and Grace Heaton; sister, Jean Troutman, of Roan Mountain; daughters-in-law, Judy Heaton, of Elizabethton and Donna Heaton, of Hampton; several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life Doroty Heaton will be conducted at 10:00AM on Saturday, November 15, 2025 in the Johnson Roanview Cemetery with Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wising to be a part of this service will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home – Rhododendron Chapel no later than 9:50AM on Saturday to travel in procession to the cemetery.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the doctors and staff of Gentiva Hospice especially to Julie and Donna, Dorothy's caregivers. Also, a special thank you to Wanda and Becky for their care and compassion shown to Dorothy during her illness.
