Tina Cable Stamey

Tina Cable Stamey, age 57, of Elk Park, NC passed away on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025. Tina's final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. Tina was born on November 1st, 1968, in Charlotte, NC to Jim and the late Betty Cable.
Tina was a member of Burbank Freewill Baptist Church and one of the kindest people you ever met. She devoted most of her life to serving others whether that be through the rescue squad, emergency management, dispatch, driving a bus or working with kids. Tina was kind to everyone she met and could always be seen stopping to talk when out to eat. She had a love for sunflowers, flip flops, the beach and was always on the go. She loved supporting her family and could be found cheering at basketball games, softball games, rodeos, and banquets.
She was a devoted wife, loving mama, terrific Nenee (to her grandbabies, nieces, and nephews), wonderful daughter, and beloved sister. Tina was a long-standing employee of Avery County Schools and gave 20 years of service to the school system.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Hardrock" Stamey and her mother, Betty Hill Cable.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her daughter, Lakean Byrd and husband, James Michael of Bunnlevel, NC; daughter, Katie Stamey of the home; grandsons, Maxton (Mac Mac) and Emerson (Smiley) Byrd of Bunnlevel, NC; sister, Jimessa Daniels and husband, Perry of Newland, NC; sister, Lynn Turbyfill and husband, Timmy of Roan Mountain, TN; niece, Sarah Beth (SB) Gouge and husband, Levi and two children, Kilian and Kennedy Bea of Roan Mountain, TN; niece, Ryan (Rhino) Turbyfill of Roan Mountain, TN; niece, Betsy (Bootsie) Daniels of Newland, NC; niece, Reagan (Rae Rae) Turbyfill of Roan Mountain, TN; mother and father-in-law, Louise and Ken Stamey of Jonas Ridge, NC; sister-in-law, Rita Huffman and husband, Keith of Newland, NC; and nephew, Hunter Huffman and wife, Nichole and daughter, Elle Grace of Newland, NC; in-law family, RH and Sherrie Byrd, Sarah, Owen, and Nora Temple of Bunnlevel, NC; special friend, Jeff Cardwell of Lenoir, NC; and a host of special friends and "adopted" children.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Burbank Free Will Baptist Church.
A celebration of Tina's life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Burbank Free Will Baptist Church in Roan Mountain with Pastor Derrick Hughes and Pastor Randy English officiating. Music will be under the direction of Burbank Free Will Baptist Church. The graveside service will follow in the StameyTown Cemetery in Altamont, North Carolina. Serving as pallbearers will be James Michael Byrd, Perry Daniels, Timmy Turbyfill, Keith Huffman, Hunter Huffman, RH Byrd, and Jeff Cardwell.
