James S. Bourget, a life-long resident of Braintree, MA passed away Wednesday, May 22nd at the age of 97 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Jim served his country in World War II as a Private in the 2530th Army Air Forces Unit. Upon returning from service Jim continued his career in welding, the trade he loved, and began at the young age of 14 in the Hingham Shipyard. As a master of his craft, he'd continue welding well into his 80s across New England and beyond and passing his knowledge on to many friends and family. When not working Jim enjoyed riding his motorcycle in and around town up until just a few years ago. Jim was a good musician, playing the mandolin, guitar, and other string instruments and singing with family and friends.
Jim and his late wife Mary (Moran) were devoted parents to Mark Bourget and wife Karen of Florida, the late Stephen Bourget of Florida, Richard Bourget and his late wife Donna of Holbrook, Karen White and partner John of Florida, Andre Bourget of South Carolina, John Bourget of Braintree.
Beloved by his eight grandchildren Jeffrey Bourget of FL, Jennifer Gilrein of MA, the late Jarrod Bourget of FL, Stephanie Bourget of MA, Steven Bourget of FL, Jessica Gaudette of MA, Danielle Bourget of FL, the late Michael White of MA, and blessed to be the great grandfather to eleven great grandchildren. Jim's life did not come to an end with his death as the memory of his fun-loving spirit and giant bear hugs will live on with those who loved and cherished him.
Funeral Services will be held at the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, 100 Washington St. Weymouth Landing with visiting hours on Monday, May 27th from 6-9 pm and formal services held on Tuesday, May 28th at 11:30 am. His burial will follow at the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, MA.
