James Boyce Obituary

James "J.J." Boyce Jr., age 19, died early Friday morning following an automobile accident. He was born on February 14, 1989 in Oberlin, and has lived in the area his whole life. He was a 2008 graduate of Western Reserve High School where he lettered all four years in football, wrestling, and track. J.J. was the captain of the football team. He received awards for all district punting, Iron man, and a special mention in state for football. He was captain of the wrestling team where he was named MVP and won Firelands Conference which led him to compete at the state level. He was a member of National Honor Society, Youth for Youth and French Club. He was the class president three consecutive years. JJ was currently enrolled at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana, where he was studying Civil Engineering. He was also a member of the ROTC, Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and the football team. He was a good friend and leader to those that knew him, full of drive and ambition. JJ was well-liked by teachers and coaches. He performed community service for many organizations. JJ (J Boy) was a one of a kind son and friend and will be sorely missed. JJ was a giving person and continued to give after his death by being an organ donor. He is survived by his mother and step-father Elizabeth and Michael Peggs, of Collins, his father James Boyce Sr. of Lorain County, maternal grandfather Robert Kaiser, of Amherst, paternal grandparents David and Darlene Boyce, of Lorain County. He was also survived by his Aunts, Christine (John) Yontz, of Wakeman, Kimberly Kaiser, of Cleveland, Uncle, Robert (Karen) Kaiser, of Parma, and six cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Wilda Kaiser. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2:00 to 9:00 pm at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Collins United Methodist Church on Hartland Center Road in Collins.
