James Raymond "Jimmy" Boyd

James Raymond 'Jimmy Boyd of Panama City, FL went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the age of 76.
Jimmy was born September 17, 1946, in Panama City and 1964 graduate of Bay High School. After high school, he attended John A. Gupton Mortuary College in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated in 1967. He spent 60 years serving Bay County as a local funeral director and embalmer. He spent the last two decades with his work family Heritage Funeral Home. Jimmy was an avid fisherman, loved baseball since a child, drag racing, and an avid gun enthusiast. Most of all, he cherished his family, friends, and his furry children.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Claude Raymond Boyd and mother, Grace Zeigler Boyd.
Those left to cherish Jimmy's memory include his wife Carolyn, with whom he celebrated 35 years of marriage on April 12, 2023; daughters, Joni Barrentine (Dewayne) and Lynn Steele (Mike); sons, Kevin Boyd (Jessica) and Mark French; grandchildren, Chandler, Camryn, Dewayne Jr., Samuel, Bryson, Adalyn, Jackson, Lucas, Andy, Kaitlynn, Hailee, Tiffany, and Mikey; and one great-grandson, Greyson.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, with Rev. Virgil Tillman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chandler Gorham, Dewayne Barrentine Jr., Camryn Gorham, Andy Steele, Michael Steele, Jackson Boyd, Lucas Boyd, Adalyn Boyd, Samuel Barrentine, and Bryson Barrentine. Honorary pallbearers are Cecil Smelcer, Dale "Dink" Mills, Willie Carpenter, J.R. Harrell, James Harrell, Justin Kent and the staff of Heritage Funeral Home.
