Marie Thomas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Panama City on Feb. 4, 2026.
Marie Thomas, 88 of Panama City passed away on February 2, 2026. She was born on November 15, 1937, and was raised in Ahoskie, NC.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished Mamaw whose greatest joy was her children and grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure. Known for her humble and gentle spirit, she carried herself with quiet strength and kindness. A faithful Christian, she lived by the guiding principle, "Do unto others," treating everyone she met with grace and respect.

She made history as the first female employee to be promoted into management at the Papermill, a milestone she held with pride and humility. Outside of work, she found joy in creating ceramics and could always be found cheering from the stands at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Her legacy of love, faith, and perseverance will live on through all who were blessed to know her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bunyan Thomas; parents, Curtis and Alice White; brothers, Jim and Charles; sister, Louise Boyd; son, David Thomas; daughter, Kim Thomas Pitts.

Those left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Adam Thomas, Michael Thomas, and Evan Pitts; great grandchildren, Michael, Benjamin, Abigail, Dylan, and Josiah; daughter-in-law, Sandra Thomas; brother, Cecil White; brother-in-law, Hardrick Thomas (Ovealia); along with many nieces and nephews, her cousin, Elizabeth Bracy and her friend, Patsy Pandullo.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Smith and Sandra Thomas officiating the service. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Adam Thomas, Michael Thomas, Brian Thomas, Clay Thomas, Ron, Pandullo, and Mike Allen.
