James T. Brazel
1959 - 2025
Thompson – James T. Brazel "Acer", born in Hartford on May 30, 1959, (66), passed away peacefully on Monday morning, December 8, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Susan Waters for 16 years. He was predeceased by his parents James and Mary (Fitzgerald) Brazel.
Jim worked for many years as a lineman/technician for the telephone company before retiring from Frontier in 2019. Through his position with the phone company, Jim became a lifetime UCONN basketball fan, enjoying many games courtside.
Jim was also passionate about golf, especially his Wednesday night SNET golf league for over 36 years. He enjoyed many tournaments over the years with friends and family. His most memorable golf moment was a hole in one on the 17th hole at Hunters Memorial Golf Course in Meriden, CT.
In retirement, Jim enjoyed spending time with family, which included watching his grandchildren's sporting events, school concerts, and horse shows. He also enjoyed boating, jet skiing and relaxing on the deck at his home on Quaddick Lake.
He is survived by his wife Susan Waters of Thompson; step-daughters, Amber Drew and her husband Chris of Millville, MA, Kelly Fournier and her husband Brian of Rutland, MA; grandchildren, Gabriella Fournier, Gillian Fournier, and Jaxon Drew; his siblings, Maureen Grasso and her husband Robert of Naples, FL, Susan Scala of Clinton, CT, Timothy Brazel and his wife Jennifer of Meridan, CT. Jim is also survived by many nieces, nephews and god children.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jim's family from 9:00AM to 11:00AM on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam CT, followed by a funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30AM in St. Mary's Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St.,
Putnam, CT. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
