James Purnell "Bubba" Brinkley, Sr.

James Purnell "Bubba" Brinkley, Sr., age 48 of Hendersonville, passed away unexpectedly on October 20, 2025. A dedicated and accomplished artist, Bubba showcased his talents as a painter while also making significant contributions to his family's backhoe business alongside his brother.

Bubba's educational foundation was laid at Beech High School, where he not only excelled academically but also made his mark on the football field. Known for his indomitable spirit, he was truly a fighter and a generous soul who brought joy and exuberance to those around him. Friends and family will fondly remember him for his ability to create vibrant and memorable experiences; he knew how to party and ensured that there was never a dull moment in his presence. He was proud to be 100% redneck 24/7. 

Bubba was a multifaceted individual who possessed the unique ability to master whatever he set his mind to. His legacy is carried on by his loving children: Lauren Brinkley Robinson (Lucas), James Purnell Brinkley, Jr. (Kurstyn), Jacob Hunter Brinkley, and Easton Perry Brinkley. He was also a devoted grandfather to his cherished grandchildren: Jayden Buchanan Brinkley, Lillian Everly Robinson, Kove Jameson Brinkley, and Kapri James Brinkley.

He leaves behind his beloved siblings: Paul Buchanan "Doober" Brinkley, Jr., Robert Patterson Brinkley, Phillip Ray Brinkley, Linda Paulette Brinkley Jackson, and Shannon Brinkley. Bubba's family extended beyond blood, as he shared strong bonds with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Buchanan Brinkley, Sr. and Linda Faye Brinkley, as well as his brother, Perry Leon Brinkley. His absence is felt deeply by all who knew him, yet his memory will live on through the many lives he touched throughout his journey.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside. Interment will follow in Beech Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside in Hendersonville and Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home.
