James Randolph Brown, age 63, better known as Randy to family and friends, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 1, 2024 while at his home in Bethel Park.
Husband of the late Beverly L Brown. Father of Jennifer Brown (fiancé Clifford Moyers) and Scott Buehl. Son of the late James Joseph Brown and Dorothy (Stewart) Vanghel. Brother of the late Kathy Brown. Grandfather of Kassiah and Amakora. Brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many others.
Randy was a cabinet maker by trade and a member of the carpenter's union for much of his career. More recently, he let his talents shine while working for a shop that does custom woodworking. Randy took great pride in everything he was tasked to create and shared his projects enthusiastically with anyone who would listen. His work can be found throughout Pittsburgh in places such as Heinz Field, the Pittsburgh International Airport, Carnegie Library Music Hall of Homestead, and the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium.
Randy had many interests and hobbies that extended beyond his work. He was a naturally curious person who would spend hours reading and researching anything that piqued his interest. Whether it be cooking, music, nature, or animals, Randy would soak it all in. He would then share his knowledge with others because he genuinely enjoyed finding people who were as interested in it as he was. Anything he loved or was excited about, he wanted to share with others so they could enjoy it too.
Randy was also known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He was one of those people that never met a stranger a day in his life. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and instantly make them comfortable and often used humor to break the ice. In addition, he was a wonderful storyteller, who could paint a picture so vivid you'd feel like you were there. You could easily spend hours talking to him and never run out of things to talk about.
His children would also like to share that his greatest role, to them, was Dad. He loved them each in his own way. When they were young he worked hard to ensure their comfort and security. As they grew into adulthood, he became a beacon of advice and support. They find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught them, the love he shared, and the memories they will cherish forever.
No visitation. A private memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later time.
