James "Jim" Ray Bugni, 77, of Frontenac, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at his home.

Jim was born August 25, 1948 in Capaldo, KS, the son of Minnie and Joseph Bugni. He attended elementary school at South Radley and was a graduate of Frontenac High School. After high school, he attended Pittsburg State University where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in mathematics, graduating in 1970. He also served in the Army Reserves from 1969 - 1971. Jim spent his career as a processing engineer at McNally's, then a purchasing agent at Vinylplex, where he retired after 25 years.

On August 16, 1975, Jim married the love of his life, Margie Hall, and they shared 50 beautiful years together. He would do anything to bring a smile to her face. Aside from his family and ice cream, religion was the most important aspect of his life. He was a devoted, life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Jim had many passions in his life, including feeding those he loved and baking cookies and sweets, he always had cookies on the counter. He would go to any measure to ensure that anyone in his home was comfortable and well fed. Jim was his family's personal handyman and took pride in making sure his house and yard were kept clean.

Jim was affectionately known as "Papa" to all of his grandkids. He always made the effort to make it to all of their sporting events, school plays, award ceremonies, birthdays, sick days, and so much more. He loved to take them fishing, to the ball fields, and to get ice cream - he loved his ice cream.

Jim is survived by his wife, Margie Bugni, of the home, three daughters, Amy (Mike) Maxwell, Alison (Jeremy) Milburn, and Abby (Caleb) Sjoerdsma, three brothers, Nick Bugni, Joe Bugni, and Chuck (Cindy) Bugni. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Lukas, Lexi, Tegan, Bree, Cole, Kooper, and Max, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Beaulah Rose Hall and his father-in-law, Carl "Corky" Hall, two sisters, Mary "Sis" McDonald and Virginia "Virg" Macary, his brother, John Bugni, a sister-in-law, Sandy Bugni, and two brother-in-laws, Mike and James Hall.

A rosary will be prayed at 6 PM Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a visitation to follow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Josh Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Friends may leave their condolences at www.brennermortuary.com. Services are in care of Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. Fourth St. Pittsburg, KS.
