James Larry Burgess Jr. born January 25, 1977 passed away in his home on November 15, 2023 at the very young age of  46. He is preceded in death by his father James Larry Burgess and grandmother Ruth Burgess.

He is survived by his wife Dianna Lynn Burgess, his parents Donna and Dennis Brown, his 4 children Destiny Ilana, Ladonna Faith, James Larry, and Dennis Andrew, as well as his bonus son James Lee Jeffries.

He was loved by so many youth as he spent his time coaching and leading children on and off the field. His open door policy provided a home and hot meal to all. He loved his dogs and would often make excuses just to stay home and spend time with them. He loved the mountains,and was proud to spend his last days at the top of the hill. James was funny, smart, kind and above all a loving father and husband. His influence and love has changed lives and will be remembered far beyond his years. 

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley.

Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home in Oak Hill.
