James Phillip Caldwell, 82 years of age, passed away on September 6, 2024, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. He was a cherished figure in the lives of many, known for his honest, hardworking, and selfless demeanor. He was a devoted father and friend, exemplifying love and dedication towards his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Jim was born April 9, 1942, in Fairview, TN, to the late William B. and Gracie Mai (Merritt) Caldwell.
A veteran, Jim served in the United States National Guard, a reflection of his commitment to serving others. Professionally, he made his mark as a drywall contractor, where his strong work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and clients alike. In his leisure time, he was an avid fisherman and had a passion for drag racing, activities that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with friends and family. He will be remembered not only for his professional contributions but also for the warmth and kindness he extended to those around him.
Jim leaves behind his son, James Phillip Jr. (Jill) Caldwell, and his daughter, Tammy Denise Caldwell (Brad Lampley). He is also survived by his step-son, Kerry Lee Daubenspeck, his sister, Lisa (Johnny) Sullivan, and four beloved grandchildren: Laken (Jesse) King, Hunter (Kylie) Caldwell, Hannah Caldwell, and Hayden Caldwell. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his two great-grandchildren, Marley James and Clabe James, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Alma Sue (Tomlinson) Caldwell, as well as his two brothers, Bill Caldwell and Mitchell Caldwell, his sister, Annie Knall, and step-children Teresa Claudette Daubenspeck and Terry Wallace Daubenspeck.
Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and will resume on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 209 East College Street, Dickson, TN. Funeral services will be in the Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Gary Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Caldwell (son), Hunter Caldwell and Hayden Caldwell (grandsons), Brad Lampley (son in law), and beloved nephews, Jonathan Caldwell and Joey Caldwell.
