James Wendell Carmichael

James Wendell Carmichael, age 84, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, surrounded by family.
James was born on June 30, 1941, in Rendville, Ohio. He proudly served in the United States Army and later worked for 35 years ending as a Quality Assurance Inspector before retiring from Timken Roller Bearing Company. James was known for his strong work ethic, his witty sayings, and deep devotion to his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and bowling.
James was first married to Angela Barnett, with whom he shared many years and raised his family. He later married Ruby Mumaw, who preceded him in death in 2012.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beryl Laurene and William Clarence Carmichael, his wife, Ruby, and siblings, Judith Jones, Myra Lynn Carmichael, Lora Carmichael, Anthony Carmichael, and brother-in-law Kenneth Ford. He is survived by his children, James (Danni), Aaron (Aurora), Claudia Merritt (Anthony), Jason (Latoya), and Christopher along with his 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Patrice (Paula), sister, Lois Ford, and sister-in-law, Irma Carmichael.
