James Joseph Carrigan Jr., 74, of Lothian, Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025.
Born and raised in Annapolis, James spent his childhood in the Hillsmere neighborhood and remained deeply rooted to the area throughout his life.
James spent many years working in real estate and title work, and later enjoyed working part-time delivering flowers for Karen's of Calvert Florist and Gifts.
A lifelong sports fan, James proudly cheered for the Maryland Terps and the Baltimore Ravens. Tailgating at Terps games was one of his greatest joys, and he rarely missed an opportunity to be part of the excitement. James also had a well-known passion for collecting things, especially papers, and could turn just about anything into a meticulously labeled file folder, a trait his family and friends will remember with both fondness and a smile.
Above all, James was a devoted father and an adoring grandfather. His granddaughters were the absolute love and joy of his life. He cherished every moment with them, and they brought him a happiness that could be seen in the way his face lit up whenever he talked about "his girls." Those who knew James will remember his big heart, his infectious laugh, and the way he never met a stranger - he talked to everyone, everywhere he went.
James is survived by his daughter, Ashleigh Mitchell, of Las Vegas, Nevada; and his three beloved granddaughters, Ava, Aria, and Ace, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his siblings, including his brother Christopher Carrigan of Odenton, his cousin Detlev Peters of Annapolis, and many wonderful friends whom he considered family.
A Celebration of Life will be planned and shared with loved ones at a later date.
