James Carter Obituary
Mr. Carter was born January 17, 1939 in Dooley County, Georgia to the late Zack Herndon and the late Cleo Hall Herndon. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired Deputy Sheriff after 39 years of service with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Department and Nassau County Sheriff's Department.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Carter of Fernandina Beach, Florida; children, Jimmy Carter of Jacksonville, Florida, Kim Ramsey of Atlanta, Mick Norton of Fernandina Beach, Florida and Kimberly Staten of Temple. A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
A private graveside service will be held Wednesday at Baxley Graveyard with Pastor Ronnie Rentz and Pastor Steve Statum officiating with Military Honors.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
