With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Leon Carter age 83 of Winnfield La. He was our beloved father, grandfather, and friend known to all as Pop.
Born March 23, 1942 he was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Carter, his parents, George and Elsie Carter, and brother Rodney Carter. Leon was a man of quiet strength, boundless love, and unmatched dedication, he departed this life and entered the presence of his Lord, on May 9, 2025 reunited at last with the love of his life, Carol
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons Chris Carter, Matt Bond, Timothy Bond; daughters, Holly Bond (Max), Amy Grantadams (Brock); grandsons, Jordan Carpenter, Brian Bond, Payton Bond (Anna), Levi Womack, Garrett Womack, Chase Bond (Lauren), Hunter Grantadams; granddaughters, Brittany Persilver(Matt), Mackenzie Bond, Brooklyn Bond, Harley Grantadams, Kara Grantadams, Kassidy Grantadams; brother George Carter (Donna) and David Carter(Beth); sister Janie Fagg; numerous great grandchildren and many neices and nephews which he loved dearly!!
Leon was a respected and skilled auto mechanic in our town for many years. His work earned him not only a loyal customer base but also the admiration and trust of an entire community. He was the kind of man who fixed more than vehicles - he offered helping hands, honest advice, and a smile that said everything would be okay.
He was a devoted husband to Carol, his constant companion and best friend. Together they built a life of love, laughter, and service. Carol always made sure his sweet tea was full and that everyone around their table was treated to one of her delicious home-cooked meals. Their home was warm and welcoming - a true reflection of the love they shared.
Pop deeply loved his family and cherished every moment spent with them. Whether it was hunting in the woods or tending to his garden, he found joy in the simple things. His yard was always immaculate - he cut the grass twice a week without fail - and his flowerbeds and vegetable garden stood as a testament to his patience, care, and pride.
We will celebrate Leon's life on Monday, May 12, 2025, Visitation at 1-2pm and service at 2:00pm at Midway Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Louisiana. Family, friends, and all who were touched by his life are welcome to join us in honoring his memory!
Though we mourn his absence, we take comfort in knowing he is home - reunited with Carol his garden now eternal, and his heart at peace.
Those serving as pall bearers are: Brian Bond, Jordan Carpenter, Payton Bond, Levi Womack, Garrett Womack and Chase Bond
