James Francis Cassidy, of Randolph, known as Jim to his friends and Pa to his family, passed away peacefully at home on November 18, 2025. Born on October 3, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jim was the son of the late James F. and Ruth E. (McLain) Cassidy. He was a devoted husband to the late Sandra "Sandy" (Noddin) Cassidy, and a loving father, brother, and grandfather.
Jim graduated from Baton Rouge High School and furthered his education at Harvard University and Emerson College. He was a man of faith and practiced as a minister. Jim also had a long career at Polaroid Corporation, where he worked nights to provide for his family. Jim had a variety of interests: He read the Bible daily (and listened to the audio version in German at home). He took pleasure in art, photography, design and literature. Consistently up to date on current events and trends, Jim could carry on a conversation on a broad array of topics ranging from college football to celebrity gossip. He was a regular spectator at his grandson's baseball games. Jim loved taking walks and was dedicated to his physical fitness.
Jim is survived by his children: Amy Cassidy and her partner Phil Cimini of Randolph, Deborah Aufiero and her husband Mark of Mansfield, Karen Cassidy and her husband Daniel Babbitt of Wrentham, and Mary Beth Cassidy of Vista, CA. His son James P. Cassidy preceded him in death. Jim's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Thomas, Amelia, Anna, and John.
In addition to his immediate family, Jim is lovingly remembered by his brothers and their spouses-David and Camille Cassidy of Baton Rouge, LA; Stephen and Jan Cassidy of Dripping Springs, TX; William (Bill) and Laura Cassidy of Baton Rouge, LA-and his nieces and nephews.
Beyond his family, Jim was a dear friend to Jeanne Rocheteau of Plymouth, Brenda Pockell of Chester, NH, Ethan and Judy Longley of Alma, AR, the late Douglas Krabbenhoft and Donna Beaton of Randolph and Lynette Inchierca of Canton.
As we reflect on Jim's life, we honor his integrity, wit, and wisdom. He was a remarkable man whose spirit lives on in the stories and memories of everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
