James Bry Caswell of Caro, age 90, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Satchell’s Christian Retirement Home. He was born on April 25, 1935 in Cass City, the son of the late Bry and Cora (Wright) Caswell. Jim was united in marriage to Marguerite Ensign Steele on February 16, 1962.
He graduated from Caro High School with the Class of 1953. In 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent thirteen months in Korea. Jim was honorably discharged in 1957. He loved to fish, hunt, and especially play golf. Jim was proud of his Hole in One at the County Line Golf Course in Reese. He worked for over thirty years at General Motors in Saginaw, retiring in 1997. James and Marguerite spent winters in Florida for twenty years, golfing and enjoying the sunny weather.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of sixty-three years, Marguerite; son & his wife, Arthur & Sue Steele; daughter, Alice Spencer; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. James will be greeted in Heaven by his parents; brother, Gerald; three sisters, Audrey, Marion, and Daisy Mae; son & his wife, Dennis & Diana Steele; granddaughter, Lisa Webb; and son-in-law, Allen Spencer.
Jim’s funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ransford Funeral Home in Caro. Rev. Michele Hile will officiate, and burial will be at Almer Township Cemetery. Jim’s family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service. Those wishing to express an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to American Home Health & Hospice Care or Satchell’s Christian Retirement Home.
