James E. Caylor age 86 passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024, at his home near Plainview. He was known by his friends as "Mousie". He was preceded in death by his parents; J.C. Caylor and Edna Hasty; sister, Wanda (Sam) Melton.
Mousie is survived by his son, James Jr.; brother, Larry (Betty) Caylor; grandsons, Jesse Caylor of Eton, and Garrett Quarles of Crandall; granddaughter, Latasha (Josh) Williams of Tunnel Hill; great granddaughter, Brenley Williams of Tunnel Hill; great grandson, Liam Quarles of Crandall; nieces, Sharon (Roddy) Roden, Sheri Melton, Amanda (Dave) Ruehlin, and Myro Lucas; special friend, Linda Vaughn. In his last years, he was frequently cared for by an angel of a friend, Aelana Queen.
Yes, this is the "Mouse" that used to burn roads around Dalton, between the bridges, Calhoun drag strip and anywhere else there was a race. He could run through "4 on the floor" with the best of them. An avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer, he loved being with his friends. He especially enjoyed going to the races with his buddy Michael Thomas and his race crew, fishing with his friend Jimmy, and spending time with his friend Billy.
In his later years, he could be found buying antiques and collectibles and around any of the Farmer's Market.
The family will receive friends at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Homes on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A family grave side service will be held at a later date.
I truly believe J.E. found peace with Jesus Christ in his last days. Burial will be in the Liberty Baptist Cemetery on Tibbs Bridge Road.
