Mt. Savage, MD- James Francis Chambers was born on June 18, 1941, and passed away in his home on February 7, 2025.
Jim was born and raised in Mt. Savage, MD, and graduated from Mount Savage High School in 1960. Upon graduating, he served in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Jim was very active in his faith and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He worked at PPG for several years before working and retiring from the CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Barrellville Outdoor Club. Jim enjoyed coaching baseball and taught children of all ages for many years.
Often known by his famous "just simply wonderful" saying, he was known as a strong, hardworking, stubborn, and kind man. He will be remembered for the heart that he shared with his friends and family-a man who would help anyone in need with no questions asked.
Jim was preceded in death by his Father, Gerald Chambers; Mother, Georgia Chambers (Kellar); brothers, Thomas, Jerry, John, and Joseph, sister Kathleen Sines; and loving son, James (Jimbo), who will meet him with open arms.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Melody Chambers; his children, Carolyn Reed and husband Ken; Anthony Chambers and wife Tiffany; Nathan Chambers, Shane Chambers, and fiancé Megan Smartnick; Clair Ricker and Husband Seth and daughter-in-law Lori Chambers. Jim was the blessed grandfather of Jeff Jr., Zechariah, Jenna, Jill, Ethan, Kaylee, Carson, Narissa, Isabella, Nathan (Jackie), Alivia, Samuel, Ellie, and 7 great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Carolina, Jacob, Aiden, Parker, Dean, and Brooke.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 15706 St. Patrick's Church Road, Mt. Savage, MD on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. with Father Mark Carter, O.F.M. Cap. as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Mt. Savage, MD.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
