James Chapin Obituary

James had a knack for mechanics and could fix almost anything. He was a top mechanic at Forklift Rebuilding in Asbury Park for many years. Later on, he drove for Monmouth County SCAT and enjoyed helping people along the way.
James had a passion for fast cars and auto racing. He raced Street Stocks in the 1980s and won his first Pro Stock race in July of 1993. His mechanical problem-solving abilities along with his good friends and dedicated team members helped contribute to his team's racing success.
James is predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and James D. Chapin, and his sister, Kerry Wombough. He is survived by his brother Chris, and sisters Dottie and Merri.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736, on Saturday April 19, 2025, from 1-3 pm, with a service to begin at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in James' name made to Brielle EMS, Inc 710 Old Bridge Road Brielle, NJ 08730. Please put James' name in the memo of the check. I remember Jim from high school and spending some weekends at his house working on car -- from pulling engines, to Hooker Headers and Thrush mufflers. As we all went our seperate ways the memory of those days pulling engines and lunch a Perkin's Pancake House have stayed with me.

My Deepest Condolences to the Family of James Chapin,
I attended St Joseph High School with James and remember him as a Kind and Thoughtful classmate. Our life's journey has taken us in different directions. I moved to St Petersburg, Florida in 1978 and did attend several Class Reunions over the years. Please find comfort that he is in the arms of the Lord and at Peace.
