James Ray Chaplin

James Ray Chaplin, a beloved father, Army veteran and visionary entrepreneur, passed away peacefully at the age of 86, surrounded by his adoring family. Born on September 8, 1938, James lived a life marked by resilience, hard work, and a deep devotion to his loved ones.

Born into humble beginnings, James learned the value of perseverance early, a principle that guided his entire life. He served his country honorably as a veteran for three years before embarking on a remarkable entrepreneurial journey. Through unwavering dedication and an incredible work ethic, he built a company from the ground up, creating numerous jobs, housing and opportunities. He often shared that he never felt he should be ashamed of his hard work or the successful business he built from such modest origins, proudly acknowledging the effort and impact of his career. Even in his later years, James continued to demonstrate his commitment, going into his office weekly until his passing.

James was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Albert Dana and Virginia Lucille (Richmond) Chaplin; brothers Floyd, Ralph, and Merle Chaplin.

James leaves behind his cherished best friend of 63 years, Ann Chaplin who along with his six daughters, provided comfort and companionship through the years and was there until his final moments. His six daughters, who adored him and were by his side until the end: Donna Chaplin Regules, Jennifer Chaplin-Case, and Jamie Chaplin-Carlsen (Scott), as well as Stacy Chaplin, Julia Jeanette "JJ" Liddle (Marquese), and Virginia Chaplin; sisters Phillis Bogzevitz, Barbara O'Brien and Martha Sego; grandchildren James "Chas" Case, Joseph "Derek" Case, Virginia "Cierra" Case, Anna "Lexie" Regules, Kathryne "Kassie" Regules, Daenerys Rae, Alister Ren, and Zoroaster Nietzsche; great-grandchildren Gabriella Rylee Case and Carter James Case; plus many nieces and nephews.

James's legacy is one of strength, integrity, and the transformative power of hard work. He instilled these values in his family and will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
