James (Jimmy) Anthony Chavez, 61, passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2025 with his loving family by his side. Born in Boulder City, Nevada on June 28, 1964, James moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2005. He was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother and friend whose life was marked by devotion to his family, dedication to his work, tremendous faith in our Lord and kindness to all who knew him,

He is survived by his loving parents, Pete and Dolores Chavez; his daughter, Anethea Lucero and husband Victor; his son, Anthony Chavez along with cherished grandchildren: Zachary, Laura, Julian, Jayla, Victor, Marcus, Katelynn, and Maranda; and great-grandson, Luka; his brothers: Dennis Chavez and wife Patricia and Joseph Chavez and his wife LuAnn; his sisters: Debbie Trujillo and husband Lloyd, and Donna James and husband Van; his special friend, Erica Gonzales; and his faithful pet companion, Pebbles who accompanied his everywhere he went.

James took great pride in the work that he did, including many years laying concrete and his many years as a dedicated truck driver. He also loved working on his old cars especially his 1951 Chevy Truck and worked diligently in keeping them running and looking great. He was a caring person who would always do anything he could to help others, and generously touched many lives.

A rosary will be recited at the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM on Monday, August 18, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at the church. The interment will follow in the Santo Nino Cemetery in Gallinas, NM. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Chavez, Dennis Chavez, Andrew Gonzales, Paul Sandoval Manuel Sandoval Jr., and Raymond Villas. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews: Crystal, Denise, Jennifer, Sandra, Dennis Jr., Pete, Michael, Dennis James, Nicole, Kristen, and Danielle.
