James (Jim/Jimmy/Jazzbo/MSJ) Michael Chimento took his final curtain call on September 24, 2025, following a 4-year battle with cancer, at the age of 78. Born in Fairfield, Ohio on December 18, 1946, he was a long-time resident of Destrehan, LA. He also resided in Metairie, LA, South Bend, IN, Orlando, FL and Mobile, AL during his lifetime. Jim was the Fire Sprinkler Inspector for Merit Sprinkler Company for 34 years and was proud to be a Life-Time member of the Eastside St. Charles Parish Volunteer Fire Department. He also worked for decades performing in community theatre, TV commercials, TV programs and movies. He had featured roles in movies (French Quarter Undercover, The Big Easy and Under Siege) and The Big Easy TV Series. Jim graduated with a Theatre degree from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL. Beloved son of the late Joseph & Henrietta Chimento, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sheila Shea Chimento, sons JJ (Sandra) Chimento and Tim (Lisa) Chimento, and siblings Henry (Kate) Chimento, Judie (Bill) Critchley, Debbie (Gary) Tucci, Mike (Susan) Chimento and sister-in-law Leone Chimento. He was preceded in death by his brother Joe Chimento. He also leaves behind 9 beloved grandchildren and their spouses and 10 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jim was so proud of his family and loved them all immensely. A Celebration of Life event for Jim's family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Volunteer Fire Dept, Community Theatre or local Cancer Society in Jim's memory. Jim would want everyone to know he Had A Good Show (H*A*G*S)…a VERY good show. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.muhleisen.com
