August 21, 1948 – September 15, 2025 James Edward Clancy, beloved father, grandfather, brother, godfather, Marine, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love. Born on August 21, 1948, Jimmy proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. His strength, courage, and unwavering commitment to those he loved remained hallmarks of his life long after his military service ended. He was a devoted father to Amy Clancy and Maegan (Clancy) Veleeparambil, and a proud father-in-law to Dr.Surej Veleeparambil. To his grandchildren-Laila Dorsey, Livianna Mejia, and Edward Veleeparambil-he was more than just a grandfather; he was their "Big Daddy," a title he wore with joy and honor. His presence in their lives was a steady source of warmth, humor, and unconditional love. He is survived by his ex-wife Susan Clancy although their marriage ended in divorce at family events Jimmy would always proclaim "Sue was the only woman I ever loved enough to marry". Jimmy was also a loving big brother to Kevin Clancy and Maureen Gress, and is preceded in death by Johnny Clancy, Richie Clancy, and Brian Clancy. He was a cherished godfather to Joseph Gress. He was a loyal, lifelong friend to Jessie and Pat Negrette, and a familiar, welcoming face to all who crossed his path. He never turned down a drink-and he was always the first to offer to buy you one. Jimmy believed life was meant to be celebrated, and he made sure everyone around him felt welcome, seen, and encouraged to have a good time with lots of laughing. His larger-than-life personality, fierce love for his family, and gift for making people feel like they belonged will be missed more than words can say. As we raise a glass in his honor, let us remember his guiding spirit: live fully, love deeply, laugh often-and always be smooth. Semper Fi, Jimmy. You will never be forgotten and as Jimmy would say "Catch you on the rebound".
