James Clark Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tim Stewart Funeral Home - Snellville on Dec. 29, 2025.
CLARK – James Peter Clark (Pete) peacefully passed away in his sleep on the morning of December 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson's disease.

Born on May 25, 1954, in Charleston, SC, Pete was one of four children of the late Henry and Mary Clark.

Pete began his journey as a master mechanic immediately after high school, dedicating his entire career to the craft until he retired as a respected shop owner. In addition to his work as a mechanic, he became a familiar face in Dekalb County as a beloved school bus driver. Countless children fondly recall their rides with "Mr. Clark" on bus 995.

Cruising was one of Pete's greatest joys, and he always had a trip planned that combined his favorite things-casinos, beaches, delicious food, and family. His suitcase was never without a stack of matching hats and Hawaiian shirts, ready for the next adventure. As a devoted father, his love only deepened when he became "Papa," delighting in spoiling his grandchildren and sharing the beach life and cruise experiences with them. When he wasn't sending playful texts or selfies to his grandchildren, Pete could be found on the golf course, dressed to impress. His wardrobe boasted hats of every color, for every holiday, and occasion, along with themed ties, coordinated Hawaiian shirts with Sue, and even festive Santa suits. Friends and family always looked forward to his daily selfie, a testament to his signature style and joyful spirit.

Even after settling in Atlanta, he never lost his signature "chall-ston" accent and loved returning to Charleston for family visits and a delicious bowl of she-crab soup-his favorite treat!

Pete is lovingly remembered by his daughter Amanda Loveless and granddaughters Zoey Elizabeth and Mia Alexandria. He is also survived by the love of his life, Susan Pitt, as well as Susan's daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Wade Baker, and their children, Trey and Teagan, along with a wide circle of family and friends, that continue to cherish his memory.

A gathering to celebrate and honor Pete's life will be held at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 670 Tom Brewer Rd, Loganville, GA 30052, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

Pete's unwavering love and remarkable courage will be cherished forever, with his memory continuing to inspire and reside in the hearts of all who knew him.
