Indiana Funeral Care - IndianapolisJames Allan Cole, “Jim”, passed away February 20, 2026, from natural causes.
He was born and raised on a farm in Perrysville, IN, son of Martha and Wayne Cole. Here he developed his love of the outdoors, drawing and tinkering. He joined the Army in ’59 where he earned a sharpshooter and carbine expert award and a good conduct medal. Soon after, he settled in Indianapolis with his young family and made a career of his artistic and construction skills as a registered architect.
Jim enjoyed camping, canoeing, keeping busy in his workshop and will be remembered for entertaining friends with his humor and antics.
He is survived by all 4 of his children; Michelle, Angilyn, Sharla and James W. Cole; his 4 grandchildren and his sister; Elaine Bartlet. He is preceded in death by a sister, Linda Swim.
Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, Noon at Union Christian Church, 1550 N 200 E, Covington, IN followed by a graveside service with Military Honors at Lower Mound Cemetery, 5462 N Co. Rd. 200 E. Covington, IN 47932.
