James E. "Jim" Collins, 79, of Alba, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Born on February 19, 1946, in Williamsport, Jim was the son of the late Edward and Betty (McCloskey) Collins. He attended Williamsport Area Schools and graduated with the Class of 1964. Shortly after, Jim answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
On September 19, 1992, Jim married Linda Campbell in a heartfelt ceremony held in their backyard in Alba. Together, they shared nearly 33 years of devoted marriage, building a life rooted in love and faith.
Jim was a familiar face in the area as the owner and operator of Jim Collins Insurance in Alba. His dedication to his clients and his profession earned him the respect of many. A man of enduring faith, Jim was a member of the North Street Church in Canton, where he was uplifted by both spiritual devotion and the warmth of community.
An avid outdoorsman, Jim found joy in nature, whether hunting, fishing, or sharing his experiences through writing. He contributed articles to the Outdoors Writers Association, with pieces published in the Canton Sentinel and the Towanda Daily Review. A skilled marksman, Jim was honored with a plaque from the Loyalsock Range for his remarkable precision in shooting at 1,000 yards.
Jim cherished time spent riding bikes along the Rail Trail with Linda and playing golf with his brother Timothy-simple pleasures that brought him great happiness.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, at home; his son, Shane Collins (Lindsey); grandchildren, Breanna and Alexander Collins; step daughter, Jennifer Kilbourn; step grandchildren, Lyndsay and Seth Kilbourn and his brother, Timothy Collins.
Jim was predeceased by his parents; Edward and Betty Collins.
