James Roy Conlee

CARBON - James Roy Conlee, 72, of Carbon died Monday, January 16, 2023, in an Abilene hospice facility. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2023, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde with Pastor Larry Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in Clyde Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
James Roy was born August 4, 1950, in Baird to Otis and Mezzie (Baker) Conlee. He graduated from Clyde High School and attended Cisco Junior College and San Angelo State. He married Virginia O'Rear in View on January 20, 1978. He worked as an oilfield mud salesman for Milchem and New Park for many years and was a member of the Baptist Church. He and Virginia moved to Carbon from Fort Worth in 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Virginia Conlee of Carbon; son, Shad Conlee and wife Miranda of Abilene; daughters, Diane Maynard and husband Stuart of Abilene and Sheila Conlee of Clyde; brother, Larry Conlee of Dallas; six grandchildren, Maggie Purdum, Paige Dasopatis, Breanna Conlee, Bridget Conlee, Mikayla Conlee and Tatum Maynard; nephew, Kevin Conlee and wife Carolyn; niece, Gabrielle Conlee and many great nieces and nephews.
James Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Mezzie Conlee; sister-in-law, Kathy Conlee; nephew, Kyle Conlee and many aunts and uncles.
