James “Jim” Coon, 66, passed away on January 18, 2026, in Sayre, PA after a courageous fight against chronic illness.
Jim was born on March 21st, 1959 in DeRuyter, New York. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who valued time spent with family and friends. He especially enjoyed hunting, NASCAR, bowling, and socializing with those closest to him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Laurie Coon; his sons, Aaron Coon (Elizabeth) and Adam Coon; his cherished granddaughters, Abigail and Emily; his brother, John Coon (Lynn); and his sister, Janice Moore (Dick) along with nieces, nephews and many cherished family members.
He was predeceased by his parents, Pearl Gillette and Robert Coon, and his brother, Jeffrey Coon.
A celebration of life will be planned for this spring, with details to be announced at a later date.
