James F. Corso of North Bergen, NJ. passed away Sunday December 9, 2024 at home, after decades long battle with Pulmonary disease. Jimmy Corso married Regina Fernadez- literally the girl next door "from the Ardito family/dads other family" and accomplished an amazing 56 years of marriage. Jimmy was the son of the late Frank J. Corso Sr. and Julia Zatti Corso. Unfortunately Jimmy lost his brother Frank J. Corso in 2010, who he admired and looked up to. Jimmy took it very hard losing his beloved in-laws Maria and Joaquin Fernandez just a few years ago.
Jimmy graduated from St. Joseph's in West New York, N.J. A UNION man from the Pipefitters Local 274 out of Parsippany NJ.
North Bergen/WNY is in his blood- and would never leave North Bergen. Jimmy was an Army reserve who was honorably discharged. He served as a Committee man in the 46th St North Bergen neighborhood for close to 40 years. Always looking to help others in need. Since a young boy Jimmy fell in love with pigeons and flying birds. He credits the pigeons and Regina with keeping him alive. Jimmy Corso the Pigeon guy, Jefferson loft, North Hudson Racing Pigeon Club- he loved all the members, Jimmy "Chief" Corso. The pigeon club under my dad's guidance has enjoyed supporting little league baseball forever and sponsoring a team. Jimmy always supported those in need.
Dad had a tough upbringing, born December 4, 1941. He is the definition of hard working, faithful husband always worried about his true love Regina Corso until his last breath. James F. Corso was born in the North Bergen projects. Grew up in North Bergen and West New York. He was the ultimate provider ensuring Frank, Marc and James had everything and more, including but not limited to a big stable safe home. His dream home- he wouldn't accept all the money in the world for it. Jimmy was an animal lover. He always worried about his family. He always asked about his grandchildren. His 1st and last wishes was to take care of Regina! And dad we promise we will! In addition to his wife Regina, Mr. Corso is survived by many friends and family but not limited to: his three children, 2 daughter in-laws, and 4 grandchildren. They are: Frank J. Corso (Wife Melissa, grand daughters Julia and Kate); Marc J. Corso, and James J. Corso (Wife Amy, and grandchildren Sophia and Joaquin). Also surviving are: his Sister-in-law Carolyn Corso, niece Colleen, and nephews Michael and Ken and their beautiful families. All the pigeon flyers including Jimmy Wacter, John Lombardi. and Family members: Sylvia, Michael, and Lea Sawicki. Gladys, Kenny, and Brayan Vervoodt. Rubin Luis Fernandez.
Let the family know you care by leaving your condolences, favorite memories and thoughts and prayers on the Tribute Wall.
