James Crouch Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 24, 2025.
James "Jim" Crouch, 75, of Union County, passed away on Monday, December, 22, 2025 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH. Born on March 16, 1950, in Dayton, he was the son of the late Leonard W. "Lenny" Crouch and Marcille Young Crouch.

Jim grew up in Bellbrook and Kettering, OH. Immediately following graduation from Fairmont West High School in Kettering, OH, Jim entered military service in the U.S. Air Force (1968-1975), where he worked as a photo interpreter, with assignments at Offut AFB, Nebraska, Vietnam, Thailand, Langley, VA, and Germany. After returning to Dayton, he attended Sinclair College (Dayton) where he majored in electronic data processing and business management.

Jim loved the Lord and ministered in Christian radio in the Dayton area prior to moving to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. There he continued radio and also installed and serviced audio systems, mostly in churches, throughout Delmarva. He never missed an opportunity to share his faith and testimony of how God spared his life to encourage others.

He met Joyce Fields Crouch, his bride of nearly 36 years, while living in MD, and after several years of marriage, their son Jonathan was born. Jon was his dad's pride and joy.

In retirement, Jim enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with old radios, cameras, pocket watches, and other gadgets that roused his interest. He also loved playing his guitar while listening to his favorite Southern Gospel and bluegrass songs on the radio, and most recently jamming with his son Jon.

Besides his wife and son, he is survived by a brother John (Jennie) Crouch, of Beaver Creek, OH, sister Ellen Winland, of Kettering, OH, sister-in-law Jayne (Ronnie) Dryden, of Princess Anne, MD, brother-in-law Donald (Lori) Fields, of Salisbury, MD, brother-in-law Darryl Miller, of Eden, MD, and nieces and nephews, Ryan (Chrissa) Crouch, Molly Crouch, Dean (Michelle) Crouch, Ean (Nicole) Scheerschmidt, Alexis Winland, Dawn (Rich) Turner, Pamela (Craig) Beard, Angela (Jim) Rathkamp, Carrie-Anne (Eric) Taylor, Kimberly (Ronnie) Whayland, and Jessica (Jimmy) McIntyre. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Crouch, and sister-in-law Rita Fields Miller.

To adhere to his wishes Jim will be cremated and his ashes interred in the Dayton National Veterans Cemetery where a committal service rendering military honors will be held at a later date.
