James Rodney "Jimmy" Culbreth, Jr., 83, passed away on February 19, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama. He was born on May 18, 1941, in Chipley, Georgia (now Pine Mountain) to Evelyn Eubanks Culbreth Timmons and James Rodney Culbreth, Sr.
A graduate of Edison High School in the class of 1959, Jimmy later attended Georgia State University. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as part of the Strategic Air Command (SAC). His professional career included owning and operating a printing and office supply company in Doraville, Georgia. In the later years of his career, he worked in sales for Precision Hose of Stone Mountain, GA.
Jimmy had a deep passion for woodworking and art, which he expressed through his craftsmanship. He lovingly built rocking horses for his nephews and nieces and baby doll cradles for charity, sharing his talents with those around him. Family and his close Atlanta friends were central to his life, and he cherished visiting loved ones during the holidays, enjoying fishing and attending football games with them. He especially enjoyed participating in the family Christmas name drawing with the children's group, ensuring he remained an active part of their traditions.
He is survived by his sisters, Jean C. Mangiafico (Edgar) of Chatham, Massachusetts, Sarah C. Erwin (Carl) of Blakely, Georgia, and Anne Timmons Fletcher, Newnan, GA.
Those preceding him in death were his Father James Rodney Culbreth, Sr., Mother Evelyn Eubanks Culbreth Timmons, Herman Fletcher and Bobby J Timmons. He also held a special place in his heart for his seven nieces and nephews and their families, who delighted in the gifts such as wooden rocking horses he crafted for them and baseball camp at his favored UGA.
A memorial Service will be held in Morgan, GA., at the Morgan Cemetery on March 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
Jimmy will be remembered for his gift of story telling, creativity, and devotion to family, and spending many hours fishing and attending football games. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
