Whiting, NJ – James (Jim) E. Curran of Whiting, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July, 30th 2025 at the age of 91.

James was born in New York City, New York on November 15th, 1933 to the late Edward and Anis Curran. Brother to the late Joseph Curran, Mary Curran, (sister) and devoted husband of 55 years of the late Mary Curran. James was the loving step father to Dominick T. Polchinski, Annamarie G. Sohnen and the late, Stanley P. Polchinski, grandfather to, Christine Polchinski, Jeanne Evich, Rachel E. Sohnen, and Michael H. Sohnen, great grandfather to Micah Evich. 

James was a licensed, Shipping Customs Broker for Freedman & Slater Inc of NYC. James relocated to their Albany, NY office on 50 State St, where he worked for approximately 20 years before opening his own agency in Albany, James E. Curran Inc., Custom Brokerage Vessel Agency for Hudson River, and New York Harbor. James was dedicated to his work in the import export business at the Port of Albany and Hudson River. He very much enjoyed working with ships Captains from all over the world who always had their stories to entertain James as he aided them in their business of trade. James was known for his unselfish generosity, and kindness towards his family, and friends. James, and Mary, shared many happy years traveling together, enjoying the company of friends along the way. We will forever miss them. 

A Graveside Service will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands New York, on Saturday, September 13th at 11am, burial by Cannon Funeral Home. To leave a message of condolence please visit www.cannonfuneral.com.
