James L. Dalton, 86, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born October 9, 1938, in Bollinger County, Missouri, to Russell and Viola Kirkpatrick Dalton.
Jim was first married to Gladys Davis. She preceded in in death. He and Nancy (Bowers) Cook were married September 28, 2019, in Burfordville.
Jim served honorably in the U.S. Army from May, 1957 to May, 1960. He was employed at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau, and retired from Lee Rowan in Jackson. He took great pleasure in working on his farm in Tilsit and gardening.
Jim loved the Lord and was a member of Discover Life Church in Cape Girardeau.
Jim is survived by his wife of six years, Nancy Dalton of Jackson; Nancy’s son, Andrew Cook and children Charlotte and Cody; sisters, Betty (William “Dub”) Martin and Shirley Duncan of Dexter, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Davis Dalton; two siblings, Robert Dalton and Wanda Dalton; and his parents.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Bro. John Hooker will conduct the funeral service at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the funeral home. Military honors will be rendered at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Discover Life Church in Cape Girardeau.
