James L. Darkow, 85, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at his home.
Born January 23, 1936 in Kansas City, James was a son of the late Gilbert and Myrtle Brown Darkow. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Central High School in 1955. He continued his education at Mission House and Lakeland College. He served his country in the Army National Guard.
On August 22, 1964, he was united in marriage to Diane L. Molitor at the First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan.
Jim owned and operated the Plymouth Antique Shop for over 35 years before his retirement. He was a member of The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. He loved fishing and collecting and restoring antiques. He also ran the Plymouth Snow Rangers Race of Champions snowmobile races for several years. Through junior high, high school and college, Jim loved to play football. He also played for the Sheboygan Redwings.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane; his sister-in-law, Pat Forkner, Kohler; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Darkow.
A memorial service for Jim will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Bryan Osladil will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bettag, Dr. Johnson, Dr. Minehan, and the many doctors, nurses and staff as well as St. Nicholas Home Health & Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Jim's arrangements.
