James A. "Jim" Davidson III, 80, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Ursia) Davidson for 47 years.

Jim was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on December 22, 1944, son of the late James A. Davidson Jr and Eva (Piquette) Davidson. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 – 1966 and went on to work as an accomplished Purchasing Manager for many years. After retirement, he volunteered his time at the Thomaston Public Library.

A bagpiper since the age of ten, he shared his gift of music across a lifetime of performance and teaching. A world-class professional piper throughout most of his adult life, he performed at the highest levels in championship Grade 1 and Grade 2 Pipe Bands. Beyond the stage, he was a generous instructor, leaving behind a lasting legacy of music, discipline, and passion for the Highland pipes. In his free time, Jim enjoyed gardening and loved watching all sports - but was an especially avid fan of UConn Basketball and any team his grandsons were playing on. Above all, it was his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that brought him his greatest pride.

In addition to his loving wife, Joyce, Jim leaves behind his treasured children, James A. Davidson IV (and wife Ellen) and Callum M. Davidson (and wife Victoria); his cherished grandchildren, Jack, Thomas James, and Oliver Davidson; his sister, Lisbeth Zajac; sisters-in-law, Pascale Davidson and Phyllis Spaulding; brother-in-law, Craig Parker Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother and sister, Neil Davidson and Barbara Parker, respectively.

Services for Jim will be held privately.
