James Travis "Sonny" Davidson, 80 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born Friday, July 30, 1941, he was the son of the late James Finis "Hoss" Davidson and the late Bernice "Nanny" Haynes  Davidson.  Mr. Davidson was a self employed businessman and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Davidson was a devoted  member of Cornerstone Church of God where he served as President of the Men's Fellowship and Chairman of the Pastoral Council.  One of his greatest joys was to serve as a greeter at the church and enjoyed cooking for the fellowship dinners.  He received an honorary lifetime membership for the FFA at Dyer County High School. He was a former Cub Scout Leader.  Mr. Davidson was a positive influence in the lives of many young men and was known all over Dyer and Lauderdale counties for cooking for any organization that his children and grandchildren were involved in.
Funeral services will be at 5:00 PM on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Cornerstone Church of God with Pastor Chad Ballentine and Mr. Danny Featherston officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee with Mr. Al Clark officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 22, 2021 and on Monday from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM both at Cornerstone Church of God.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of  fifty-nine years, Patricia Featherston Davidson of Newbern, Tennessee; two sons: James T.  Davidson, Jr. of Newbern, Tennessee,  and David Davidson (Alana) of Halls, Tennessee; one daughter, Sara White (Daniel) of Newbern, Tennessee; two brothers: Tommy Davidson of Newbern, Tennessee,  and Donny Davidson (Cathy) of Newbern, Tennessee; two sisters: Carolyn Beaumont of Ashland City, Tennessee and Rhonda Davidson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and was "Daddy T" to his five grandchildren: David Davidson, Jr., Wessley White, Ryan White, Alex Hyman and Georganna Stanley and  the many kids that he was blessed to have shared in their life.
Honoring Mr. Davidson as pallbearers will be James Davidson, Jr., David Davidson, Daniel White, David Davidson, Jr., Wessley White, Ryan White, Alex Hyman and Chris Daniel. Honorary pallbearers will be Truman Anderson, Warren Gene Jones, Eugene Noelder, Jerome Sanders, Glendale Brasfield, Eugene McLean, Jeff Kimbro and Kenny Petty.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Cornerstone Church of God, P. O. Box 1525, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024
