James N. Delaney

James Nathaniel "Man" Delaney was born on September 11, 1965, in Williamsburg, Virginia. He departed this life on Friday, February 25, 2022.
James was raised in the Chickahominy area of Toano and was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools. After graduating from Lafayette High School he attended Virginia Union University (VUU). He ran track for both Lafayette and VUU.
James was employed with The Pines Nursing Home as a Housekeeping Supervisor and was a Custodial Supervisor for National Janitorial Services. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Male Chorus, where he graced the congregation with his angelic voice.
James was a faithful Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed fishing and cooking. James was a pickle with a great sense of humor. When you were around James, you would surely have a good laugh or two. He was a people person and was known for his loving-kindness and generosity towards others. Most people will remember his beautiful smile. He was truly a blessing in the lives of those he touched and will forever be missed but never forgotten.
James is proceeded in death by his two mothers, Shirley Harper and Lucille Delaney; fathers, James Edward James and Walter Delaney; brothers, Donald Robinson and Mark James. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his daughter, Tamea Delaney; grandson, Javion Miles; brothers, Robert Delaney of Toano and Clint James (Wanda) of Richmond; sisters, Virginia Canaday (Charles) of Charles City, Estelle Swain of Richmond, Kay Burnett of New Kent, and Jean Jones of Toano; sister-in-law, Geneva Delaney of Lanexa; special friends, Wayne Hill, Vincent Taylor, Michelle Lightfoot, and Brenda Lightfoot; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends at Whiting's Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, starting at 10:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life service beginning at noon. Live stream will be available at the beginning of the service. Facial coverings are required for all services.
